Hey, may you be tiding well! If you are questioning whether this is a sign to give her a listen, I say take this whim & run! If you're in the mood for soul crushing & also soul sowing -- she's got a ton of heartfelt tunes for you! Are you looking for rec's? There's a wide range of sounds if you also include her band big thief.

once I have a moment, I'll definitely be diving into Bright Future. I gave the first couple songs on it a listen, just to see what she sounds like. not what I expected! however I have a feeling I'm gonna be an absolute emotional mess when I'm through with it... I'd love to hear your rec's if you have any though, favourite songs and all :D

LISTEN TO THE ALBUM "SONGS" (2020) !! All of those songs are so special but she definitely hooked people in through highlights like "anything", "zombie girl", or "forwards beckon rebound" ... if it feels too acoustic, head on over to "Dragon New Warm Mountain" (2022) by Big Thief .... this is folksy but has some shoegazey & electric moments. ALSO, Adrianne's KEXP At Home setlist is iconic......raw.... everything.

while the obvious answer would be something red, gory, and bloody like cherry, mine would be key lime. sweet, light, a little sour... maybe some cream on top

No such thing as that... I suppose your writing uproots some great chunk of interpretational skills, which is mostly what's necessary to get a general scope of subjects, then you can follow it [philosophy] anywhere. Distressed selves are needed. I dig literature, art performances, movies, and to eat a kind chocolate. Main interest is philosophy these days, though. I'm a beginner, as well. Lots of studies to adjust -- can't give up just yet. You?

I agree distressed selves are needed (especially since so many of us are inherently so) & we all can benefit from studying what we can, where we can. What started you on your philosophy interests? Sounds like an exciting place to have a beginner's mind in! I'd consider myself a novice in botany & ecology -- with enjoyment of naturalist activities; slowly, slowly learning. My interests lately include making art, going to concerts & theatre performances where I can afford it, running, generally being in my emotions & listening to others' experiences, writing in my journal, writing to my pen pal, singing. Of course, I like chocolate too :~)

I actually have no idea. Which is concerning. I suggest you'd read Félix Guattari's Three Ecologies -- he roams around new meanings and endeavors for ecological philosophy (he coins it ecosophy!) and foresees a new appliance of assemblages that can very well change the manner we live and think; guess you'll like it. Slow learning is the greatest way to enjoy it all, though. Keep up with the good self-work, and keep on singing. Voices are our greatest resort. Sending you a cyberchocolate and overwhelming kind emotions. :)

Adrianne Lenker's album, "Bright Future," is a breathtaking journey into the depths of the human experience. With each haunting melody and poetic lyric, she invites listeners into a world of raw emotion and profound introspection. From the moment the first notes of the album grace our ears, we are transported to a place of vulnerability and authenticity. Lenker's ethereal voice weaves through each track, carrying with it a sense of longing, hope, and resilience. What makes "Bright Future" truly remarkable is its ability to capture the complexities of life with such exquisite beauty. Lenker lays bare her soul, exploring themes of love, loss, and the passage of time with a depth of emotion that is both mesmerizing and heart-wrenching.

Through songs like "Hold On," "Ingenue," and "Zombie Girl," Lenker invites us to confront our deepest fears and desires, while offering a sense of solace and understanding. Her lyrics are like poetry, painting vivid images of love found and lost, dreams realized and shattered, and the bittersweet beauty of simply being alive. As the album unfolds, it becomes clear that "Bright Future" is not just a collection of songs, but a deeply personal and profoundly moving testament to the human spirit. Each track is a reflection of Lenker's own journey, as well as a mirror that allows us to see ourselves more clearly. In a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain, "Bright Future" serves as a guiding light, reminding us that even in our darkest moments, there is always hope on the horizon. Lenker's music is a reminder that we are not alone in our struggles, and that through love, connection, and resilience, we can find the strength to carry on.

I have! My favorite track is relief. I’d like to listen to it a few more times, I think there’s more for me to get out of it. I was happy to give what I could for the relief fund, I think her music was a wonderful reward for a donation. If music could make the difference that money makes I think this would be a much better world. Oh, and welcome to spring! We’ve passed another equinox! Spring is HERE, with a strawberry in her mouth!

Relief is truly a highlight. The piano in that track...</3 That one packs a punch with how heavy it feels to exist surrounded by resounding ache & injustice. I also loved the intro song 'the music' & 'fangs lungs ankles'. ... Enjoy spring!! 🎹 🍃 Bud time! May Buddy also take in all the sounds & smells!

Hey! I'm mega into Spring Is Coming With a Stawberry In the Mouth (invigorating, transformative) & I Believe - Acoustic version (heartfelt, somehow improves upon a fave)! I also felt a newfound love for Butterfly Net (ft Weyes Blood), which I found to be a lil underwhelming on the initial album. Not many thoughts or listens to the other bonus tracks yet. I think the songs I do enjoy really hit the nail on the head with Desire I Want To Turn Into You's freedom & majesty. With Faye, she made a sweet album, that's terribly relaxing at some points. I'm obsessed with her & the slide guitar. Great inviting opener. I enjoy when artists try out vocoder & other vocal effects. Lyrically, this album felt less resonant overall. Though, I only listened through fully once -- so take these thoughts with a grain of salt! Please, tell me your thoughts!

She has specific lines in her songs that really hit hard for me. "If you're in a good place, I won't mess with that", the whole of Wanna Quit All the Time ofc, and the whole of Lifetime... ofc, "I've been listening to the same thing again, close my eyes, I can smell my old apartment", "and you said you were sure it'll work out this time". I'm honestly not that difficult to impress with lyrics, which is why I really enjoyed the scattered thought pattern way she wrote them?? don't know if that's the right way to put it... it's just bare, simple but packs a punch when you're in a similar mindset. ALSO, the way she pronounces "out" and "about" is so cute and kind of mind boggling to my aussie accent haha, just wanted to mention that :>

:~) I enjoyed reading your lyric/song selections. Thx for sharing! I'm sobbing there with ya! @ ' think I'll figure it out' -- That track has its rightful charm & intimacy. I truly enjoy Faye's brutal honesty too. I get your description of simple lyrics hitting the most when you're in the similar headspace. Faye is always in & out of love! I think I connect more to her yearning, melancholy, & ...self-deprecation (? not sure if that's too harsh of a word. Maybe her general self-reflections?) rather than the directly romantic elements. Love your note on pronunciation/accent. With Caroline Polachek, I feel as if that's still worthwhile her music can provide the periodic refresh! There's only so many artists two ears can handle & fully embrace! Your non-dewy, dewy morning walk sounds swell. Boy-- sonically I am hooked on CP even if I never decipher her lyrics & just run with placing meaning on the vibe & title.

I definitely need to listen to her other projects, I only know of her popular songs in passing, so this was the first album of hers that I've fully listened to. I understand what you mean about the 'self-reflections', It's a mix of all those elements in her lyrics that makes it very relatable to the average person I think. Sometimes, the best thing is when the lyrics are ambiguous and up to interpretation, I love being able to put my own meaning onto a song and just vibe with it, y'know. I also have a lot of respect for people who try deciphering the lyrics, when I try I usually have a bit of a brain-fart hahaha
