\/ Crying babies who don't accept that metal evolves, including Black Metal. We no longer live in the age of burning churches and corpses paint, get over it.

Please stop labeling your "black metal" bands that turn into "progressive metal" as "progressive black metal". Thank you

Hey I started a new group for music fanatics, the focus is going to be different than the ExMF and the frosty paradigm. It's a bit of an experiment but if a bunch of people get in it could be cool. Join if you are interested. I want this group to become a center for music discussion on Lastfm (even though it's metal centered, other genres are more than welcome to be discussed.) Cheers! http://www.last.fm/group/Unholy+Cult+of+the+Appraised+and+Damned

Lot of morons in this shoutbox. Progressive black metal obviously does exist, as anyone who listens to, for example, modern-day Deathspell Omega or Enslaved or later Emperor would know. Newsflash: Denying it doesn't make you look smart. Some of the stuff tagged here doesn't really have much to do either with prog or with black metal, though, but overall the subgenre definitely exists.

http://www.last.fm/group/Obscure+technical+music if you are interested in obscure technical music please join! I promise to at least visit once a week and post recommendations, but having more people join and/or be more active could lead to more discussions and recommendations from people within the group. Cheers!

Progressive black metal is not an oxymoron. You on the other hand, are just a moron.

I just can't get enough of "this". So powerful, emotional driven, dark, heavy, just perfect music. It's all you could ever ask for.

Progressive Black Metal is far from an oxymoron. When Black Metal first came into creation and became an underground hit, it was meant to be something completely different. Away from mainstream ideas, an outlet to let anger out about religion, philosophy, etc. It was there to completely break the rules and change them. Progressive music is about change, experimenting and doing new things. Put the two together and it's like a motherfucking revolution.

Yeah i've checked all those out but they just haven't clicked with me, it's good musically but they aren't my thing I guess. I've been really getting into Gorath recently though. Does anybody know if the Belgium scene is any good?

Agrypnie, Klabautumann, Todtgelichter... The German Black Metal scene is fucking amazing, I don't understand how so many people on the internet dislike it.

Both of the below statements are stupid. [2] Although I really am not fond of most of the german scene, which seems to be majority of the prog black metal bands on lastfm to my knowledge.

One of those subgenres where you really don't know what you're going to get. There are great bands... and some truly horrible bands that have no idea what black metal is about.
