What a random ass song to go viral for Pinegrove. Oh well, more Pinegrove fans is always a good thing.

yes. Pinegrove are on indefinite hiatus. Maybe all this newfound fame makes them come back in some capacity sooner than later.

this band has enriched my life so much in such a short time, it hurts to know this is the quasi end. so thankful I caught them live once in Buffalo NY.

many cross-country drives spent with pinegrove, interrupted by intermittent phone calls, blown tires, rest stop naps at 2am, you-name-it: concrete memories abound, yet this band takes me to another world where all that "stuff" blurs into an ocean of feelings i've only dipped a toe in. can't wait to see em play live again.

I mean you could be genre police about the emo tag too but at this point, for better or for worse, pinegrove is generally considered to be an alt-country emo hybrid 🤷♂️

Sure, there are big names in the musical landscape of 20th and 21st century that are accurately described by just one tag or genre descriptor, but most music isn't so conservative that you can easily say that it's just this or just that. Might as well tag Pinegrove with alt country only because they occasionally guitar twang. That then stacks with emo, indie, etc tags and paints an attractive picture for someone who's never listened to them to get their interest piqued. That's what genre tags are mostly for. If for personal cataloguing purposes, you can tag them as whatever you see fit.

seriously sucks that for all the people that could have been the example of "maybe we should wait before demonizing this person and piledriving their career and output into the core of the earth", ESH had to be that person, right before this incredible band rightfully blew up and took their spot on top of the world. i don't think we talk about that enough. It's either "fuck them forever" (what an idiot with no brains says/thinks) or quietly easing back into this band's output and pretending nothing ever happened.
