And I, I have got nothing to offer you. No-no-no-no-no. Just this heart deep and true which you say you don't need...

first off all, before judging this song bear in mind that America gave Morrissey a second home and almost a second chance for his career -beginning with you are the quarry- . . this being said, being the ironic, wry poet he is, Moz does make some valid points always tongue in cheek, not necessarily pointing the finger to anyone in particular, but asserting the cold truth that sparks intrigue. remember, he wasn't being racist when he did national front disco or asian rut - he is a mirror, stating what he sees in the world, within the society, sometimes by hiding behind ambiguous anonymity. yet, in Estonia they still say .....

I'm American but I love how honest it is about how arrogant and blind people here are, how they wave the flag around and claim to be the greatest country in the world with no "greatest" statistics to back it up. We're way down on that list on anything positive and it's because of the typical American's blindness and arrogance. No matter how much our government lies to and manipulates us, no matter how much we're killing our soldiers and bombing other countries for nothing, no matter how much privacy we're losing, etc. etc. to them, we're still the greatest country! That's not patriotism, that's the root of the problem!

I like Morrissey but this song is kind of lame. America is an easy target, why don't you complain about China ?

The prime minister of UK has never been black or openly gay. And when we had a female prime minister, didn't you just LOVE it, Morrissey?

You fat pig! I've always felt this song was a little embarrassing... not because I disagree with most of the sentiment, it's just kind of sappy. And very lame of Morrissey to fall in line with the victim politics thing... oh the poor females, blacks and gays. Spare me Moz, you're supposed to be above that stuff. It needs a do-over... melody is pretty good, some of the lyrical ideas too.
