Im Yoon-Ah (Hangul: 임윤아; Chinese: 允儿; born May 30, 1990 in Seoul, South Korea), known by her stage name Yoona, is a South Korean idol singer, actress, dancer, model, spokesmodel, and member of the South Korean idol group, Girls' Generation.
Although trained as a singer, she shines and gets more recognition in acting. Yoona made her debut as an actress in 2007 with the drama 9 Ends 2 Outs. Although it was a supporting role, Yoona left a huge impression with her acting ability. In 2008, Yoona acted in the drama Woman of Matchless Beauty before her first leading role in the daily drama You Are My Destiny. In You Are My Destiny, Yoona played the role of a tough happy-go-lucky orphan "Jang Saebyuk" who received an eye cornea donation from a dead same-age girl "Kim Nayoung" after she lost her sight due to an accident. Her fate became entwined with the dead girl's family who slowly accept her as a part of their family as time goes by. Yoona received much love and compliments, and won important recognitions in acting awards with this role. Yoona also starred in Cinderella Man alongside with Hallyu star Kwon Sang Woo. She had her hair cut to fit her role as a mature fashion designer.
Also before her debut as a singer, Yoona had been well known in the entertainment industry as a model. Yoona began to film CFs and model for various magazines when she was a trainee, and has been a popular model to endorse Clean & Clear, YeJiMiIn wise beauty .
